Apurinã Awiry : Verde Blend
This very rare and special blend of hapéh is made exclusively by the Apurina people of the Purus River. This legendary green hapéh is made with only two plants and can only be made at a specific time of the year. This verde blend is so rare because it can only be harvested during the dry season when the river is low. The Awiry plant grows on the river banks of the Amazon and is only above water during the dry season. Traditionally the Apurina used to only make this hapéh out of the dried leaves of the Awiry, but more recently they have begun to add mint to the blend as well (not in currently batch will be in the next batch). This blend is very fragrant and is a wonderful cleanser. This blend is a heart opener, an energizer, and is very gentle yet highly invigorating.
About the Apurinã people
The live scattered along the banks of the Purus river, the Apurinã share a rich cosmological and ritual complex. The Apurinã language is of the Aruak root, the closest language would be the Manchineri, which inhabit the Upper Purus basin. They are famous for their green hapéh made with their local herb "Awiry". Their history is marked by violence of the two rubber cycles in the Amazon region. Today, they are fighting for the rights to some of their lands that have not yet been recognized and that are frequently invaded by loggers.
